The Shelburne Inn is one of 20 Select Registry member inns to participate in a first-ever Lionel Electric Trains Christmas promotion that includes Lionel Trains as part of their Christmas decorations.
The partnership between Select Registry and Lionel Trains includes providing participating inns with a Lionel Pennsylvania Flyer Deluxe Train with extra track, a collector box of Lionel Vintage style tree ornaments and additional Christmas decor and promotional items.
The Shelburne Inn is pleased to be a part of the promotion and incorporate the Lionel Trains into our Holiday decor as trains are a traditional and fun component to many Christmas displays. We invite you to stop by our inn to view our display and enter the contest for Lionel Train items.
“We are pleased to partner with Lionel Trains and our member inns on this promotion,” said Phil Jenkins, CEO of Select Registry. “The partnership is one founded in excellence. Select Registry and our member inns are the embodiment of excellence in the private inn industry. Lionel Trains appeal to those who value tradition and family togetherness during the holidays. This partnership will enhance the traditional Christmas experience at the participating inns.”
Lionel Trains has a deeply rooted past in Holiday displays at New York’s Grand Central Station and Macy’s Santa Land. Both attractions have included Lionel Trains for many years and continue to grow as they impress visitors with their working railway systems. In addition, the Long Beach Peninsula has its own ties to railroad history. For a limited time, the Shelburne Inn will provide free passes to the Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum in Ilwaco. There, train buffs can learn about the Clamshell Railroad that ran according to the tides, rather than a standardized time table.
Included in the promotion is a “Home for the Holidays Photo Contest.” The only requirement for entering is submitting a photo of a Lionel Train as part of holiday decorations. The photo can be of a personal display from the past or present or one from any of the participating inns. Prizes include one $500 Select Registry gift certificate, and four Lionel O Gauge sets and will be awarded to the photos that receive the most votes. Additional prizes will be awarded to 15 entrants randomly selected The contest and sweepstakes will run December 15th through January 15th. We at The Shelburne Inn invite you to come in and take a photo to submit for this contest. Who knows, you may be the lucky winner. Be creative! Dress in your holiday finery or weirdness! Remember, people like you may be voting!

We really do enjoy where we live. That’s why it’s not a hard sell when we promote the area. Of course, the Long Beach Peninsula is teeming with things to see and do, but there’s a reason that you might want to extend your visit to multiple nights so that you can also take in Astoria, Oregon. Just to entice you, we’ve posted a couple of photos that capture the spirit of that town, almost as well as the bumper sticker that reads, “We ain’t quaint.”Above is a patient companion, waiting for his owner to finish a beer at the Voodoo Room on a warm summer evening.
